Chapter 26 - The Leap of Faith

There are moments in life where you reach a crossroads, where you have to choose between staying comfortable or risking everything for something greater. For me, the decision was clear. I had poured everything I had into Holodex, but the rejection from the investor made one thing abundantly clear: If I wanted this to work, I had to take massive action.
So, I sold everything. Every piece of furniture, every unnecessary possession—it all went. My life, my work, my dreams... they all fit into a single suitcase. I didn’t just sell my things—I sold my past. I was about to step into a new chapter, one that required complete focus and total commitment.
I boarded a plane to LA with nothing but a suitcase and an idea. The city of dreams. The city where the big players were, where everything felt possible. I knew this was where I had to be. The adult industry’s heart was here, and if Holodex was ever going to thrive, it had to be in the middle of the action.
I didn’t know exactly what would happen when I landed, but I knew I had to meet with the people who mattered. I started booking meetings with all the agencies, the movers and shakers who controlled the business side of adult entertainment. It was an eye-opening experience—talking to the agents, hearing their stories, learning what worked and what didn’t. There was a lot to take in, but there was also a lot of potential.
It seemed like every agency I visited had its own way of doing things, its own rules. All were interested and it was clear that the market for Holodex was there. What I didn’t expect, though, was that in the midst of all these business meetings, it would come down to just one person.
Derek Hay,
I first met him in a nondescript office, a handshake, a brief exchange of pleasantries, and then we got down to business. At first, he seemed like any other guy in the industry—polished, confident, with the right connections. But there was something different about him. He had the power, the influence, and most importantly, the ability to make things happen.
I wasn’t sure what it would lead to, but I knew he was key. Derek was a man who had the connections to push Holodex forward, to take it from an idea to reality. He had a presence that was hard to ignore, and despite everything, I felt a strange pull toward him.
But I would later learn that getting too close to Derek wasn’t without its consequences. He had the keys to everything I wanted—and the lock on everything I didn’t yet know I was about to lose.
